Newsletter!

Though you’ve heard from us a lot sporadically, this is is our first official one! We intend to make it seasonally, so you can expect a Fall and Winter and Spring.

We’ll be sprucing it up and welcome feedback and support (see “Ways to Plug In” below). We want to co-create with our people.

What should we call it, tho? “Newsletter” is boring.

New Website!!

Thanks to pro bono support from Aleisha from Build the Balance, we will be launching within days a new site! We will be working to update it for the coming weeks and months. Exciting News: A New Web Home for Our Fire Collective

We’re thrilled to share that a fresh new Our Fire Collective website is on the way! This project has allowed us to get regrounded in who we are, what we believe in, and the vision we hold for our community.

Our new site will make it easier than ever to:

  • Stay connected with updates, events, and opportunities to join in

Stay tuned… our launch is just around the corner!

September 27, 10am-12pm, virtual offering: “collective gems”

We’re thrilled to combine forces with our beloved Joshua Feliz Martinez and his growing spaces for restoration, meditation, and dialogue. Free! Save the date. More soon - come see what this could be and bring a friend ;)

September 12-13 partner retreat

We will be welcoming 10 new members into our community-building after a transformative weekend. If you’re interested in hosting or food roles (volunteer or compensated), please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/yPirr3VAMAsK3ZwY8.

Dinners at Naqibahs

Intention behind dinners - it’s important to remain in informal relation with each other in physical space as much as we are able. With all the hats we each wear, the individual and collective benefit of coming together every month keeps the fire burning. People always left so glad they showed up, uplifted, rested, changed.

We cannot have enough of staying connected through difficult times, and we welcome ideas/hosts as we consider a new fall-winter-spring season of dinners.

Rest and reimagine - debrief and calls to action

thank you and photos

We had an incredible gathering in June, healing through the deluge of rain, a cleansing sound bath, and clarifying conversations on Facilitation, Membership, and Partnership. See or add photos at this link.

Gratitude to all attendees, to HYCC, to our childcare support, people who provided food, and our sound bowl and yoga offering, and Nellie Mae.

Folks who were there are already contributing immensely to next steps. We invite more participation now and ongoing, including:

Faciltiation

Are you a healer, artist, bodyworker, or guide?

Do you lead practices rooted in embodiment, creativity, or community care?

Naqibah is connecting with folks who are interested in facilitating or co-creating healing spaces with OFC—not only to offer their gifts, but to be nourished in return.

We believe facilitators deserve support, reflection, and community, too. We have developed a compensation questionnaire rooted in reciprocity. We also want to be a space that facilitators can deepen their practice, connect with others, and be held as they hold others. If you’re curious about what collaboration could look like, reach out to Naqibah for a conversation about mutual support, aligned partnership, and co-creating spaces that heal outward and inward. Email her at ourfirecollective@gmail.com.

Membership

Belonging isn’t just a concept for us—it’s a practice. We’re exploring what it means to be in sustained relationship with one another, not only in moments of gathering, but through ongoing rhythms of care, reciprocity, and support.

Keyona is holding the questions around how OFC can grow a community model in which membership isn’t transactional, but relational. This might include shared offerings, mutual aid, volunteer circles, SuSu access to resources/services, and tending to each other in many forms.

Reach out to Keyona to help us imagine and shape what community membership can mean here. keyona@inspired.community

Partnership

Every time Our Fire Collective customizes offerings with a partner, we’re tending to the roots of our work—clarifying our vision, strengthening our systems, and building infrastructure that reflects the depth of of the need and resilience of care workers.

We're appealing to partners with healing justice leanings with "micro, mezo, and macro" skills and support to sustain their people who work in harm's way.

As our offerings grow, so does our need for thoughtful, values-aligned collaboration - we anticipate partner organizations or coalitions will be a majority of revenue and of exposure.

Jesse and this revolving committee are seeking your help to identify and steward relationships with organizations, schools, health centers, and coalitions who also want community care to be integral to their work, who want to lean toward humanity in times of need, and who support the emotional labor and mental health of their people. Please reach out to ourfirecollective@gmail.com to work on this broadly or with specific ideas for connection.

Ways to plug in

Tl:dr - fill out this form for 2025-2026! Two questions: 1. Your skillsets & 2. Areas of need you’re interested to support: https://forms.gle/yPirr3VAMAsK3ZwY8.

There is a role for everyone. Many ways to be part of this work, and all levels of engagement are welcome. Some of the roles we’re currently tending include:

Retreat support

In general, we have defined a list of roles that people could step into once or as a regular passion. We're excited to share the magic and benefits (and sometimes compensation) of being part of the hosting team.

For our upcoming September 12-13 gathering in northwestern MA, we have a couple volunteer/compensated roles for food, set up, registration, hosting. It’s a partner’s closed group, so no roles will involve an opportunity to attend the entirety. Reach out if you’re interested!

Advisory roles

Advisors offer insight, grounding, or strategy as we grow. We’re defining the depth and frequency of advising to meet people’s capacity and expertise (no regular meetings yet, likely quarterly).

Project-based collaborations

Projects range from internal development of the collective, including outreach for gatherings, new web/logo feedback, developing our LinkedIn presence, to stewarding a new gathering or grant-seeking. Please fill out the form with your skill-set and interest areas.  https://forms.gle/yPirr3VAMAsK3ZwY8

See more options you may be interested in on the form, or simply add your skillsets to be contacted when it’s a match for you!

We know timing and capacity shift with seasons. Whether you’re ready to offer your energy now or simply want to stay close and connected, we hope you’ll keep an eye out for future opportunities that feel right for you. You’re welcome to listen in, reach out, and respond when something stirs your spirit.

Let us know where your heart is pulled. https://forms.gle/yPirr3VAMAsK3ZwY8.
